This getting started article will help Admins to understand and set up Days Off using TDAdmin. The user must have Admin access in TDAdmin.
Overview
Organizational Days Off can be used to account for holidays or any other weekdays on which your organization might be closed or non-operational. Weekend dates may not be entered as days off because these make no impact on resource allocation. A day off will reduce the capacity of each resource for that day.
Days off are taken into consideration on all capacity-related data and reports. Days off are also factored into operational time calculations for ticket tasks and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) as appropriate.
Where to Find This
This feature appears in the TDAdmin interface.
Navigate to Days Off following these paths:
- TDAdmin, navigate to Organization Settings > Days Off.
Where to Start
Adding Days Off
The date range on the Days Off page defaults to the current date in the From field when you first view the Days Off list. To capture the whole year, set the From field to January 1st of the current year, and either leave the To field blank or select December 31st.
To add a new day off:
- TDAdmin, navigate to Organization Settings > Days Off.
- Click the +New button.
- In the New Day Off window, enter the Dates for your organization’s days off.
- To add a single day off:
- Enter a value in the Dates From field.
- Enter a value in the Name field.
- To enter multiple days off:
- Enter a value in the Dates From and Dates To fields.
- Enter a value in the Name field.
- Click the Save button.
Deleting Days Off
Once created, an organizational day off cannot be edited. If a day off is created with errors, it will need to be deleted and re-created with correct dates.
To delete a day off:
- TDAdmin, navigate to Organization Settings > Days Off.
- Click the Delete link next to the day off you’d like to delete.
- Click OK in the confirmation popup.
Time Off vs Days Off
Time off entries can be submitted by individual users. These are different than Organizational Days Off. More information about how Days Off and Time Off interact and impact capacity in the Windows Budget and Capacity Planner article.
Gotchas & Pitfalls
- Days Off must be entered annually, usually best when the organization calendar is released.
- Days Off impacts the entire environment, all ticketing applications and the project application are all referencing the same Days Off entries.
