Who can use this feature?
- Users with the following permissions and access can convert a ticket to a Project
- Access to TDNext/Work Management
- Access to a Ticketing application
- Global Security Role that includes "Add Projects"
- Access to Projects Application
Converting a Ticket to a Project
- In the Ticketing Application, open the ticket to be converted
- Select the Actions drop down from the Ticket Details window
- Select Convert to Project
- The New Project screen will be presented.
- Note the cautions as follows
You are converting a ticket into a project. After saving, the original ticket will no longer be available. The following data will be permanently lost:
- Custom ticket attributes
- Entries for this ticket in My Work
- Alerts
- Ticket tasks
Existing ticket schedules and resources will be converted over. You will be added to the project as the manager, even if you are not on the originating ticket.
- Select a Project Type. This will determine what field are required to Save and create the project.
- Complete the fields presented
- Scroll to the top and Save
- The new Project will open in a new tab within Work Management
Additional Information
- The fields presented on the New Project screen are determined by the Project Type that is selected by the user
- After it is converted, the original ticket will not be available in the ticketing application. If you search by ticket number, a message will be presented as that includes the new project number, the user who converted it, and the date and time of conversion.
- Custom attributes on the ticket will not map to custom project attributes but the information stored in those attributes will be captured in the project feed
- The ticket history (feed) will be available in the project feed
