Answer

There are a wide array of schedule cadences for preventative maintenance tickets.  Though we cannot cover them all here, we'll review a few common options that can be challenging to identify or build.  For more details on how to work with scheduled tickets, see related articles.

Quarterly Cadence

Use the Monthly schedule option repeating every 3 months.

Examples:

  • Day [1] of every [3] month(s)
  • The [First][Monday] of every [3] month(s)
     

Quarterly Cadence with 1 Annual Variant

The platform does not currently support one schedule to accommodate this need.  To accomplish this goal you have two options:

  1. Two Schedules, Cancel Extra Quarterly Ticket
    In this scenario, you set up a Yearly schedule for the annual preventative maintenance, and a Monthly schedule using the settings for Quarterly Cadence.  We recommend setting the tickets to be created on the same day or date, then adding a note in the description or a task to the quarterly ticket to check if an annual ticket was created for the same item and, if so, cancel the quarterly.
     
  2. Three Schedules
    1. Quarterly Part 1: Quarters 1 and 3
      1. Set up a Monthly schedule repeating every 6 months
      2. Set the Start Date and Time to represent Quarter 1
    2. Quarterly Part 2: Quarter 2
      1. Set up a Yearly schedule repeating every 1 year
      2. Set the Start Date and Time to represent Quarter 2
    3. Annual Variant: Quarter 4
      1. Set up a Yearly schedule repeating every 1 year
      2. Set the Start Date and Time to represent Quarter 4
