Who can use this feature?
- Available in TDAdmin
- License Requirement: Enterprise
- Administrative Access: Global Administrator
Ticket Types specify the kind of work to be performed on a Ticket. Project Types classify the kind of work to be done on a project. Type Categories can be used to group different ticket or project Types for easier location. Type Categories are shared across all Ticketing Applications and Project Types.
Application administrators do not have permission to access or configure Type Categories since they apply to all ticketing applications. However, application administrators can edit the application's Types.
Type categories are often aligned with high-level organizational structure, especially when TeamDynamix is used for Enterprise Service Management. For example, a Type Category may be created for each department using a ticket app such as "Information Technology", "Human Resources", or "Financial Services".
Creating and Editing Ticket and Project Type Categories
To create Type Categories for all ticketing applications and projects:
- In TDAdmin, go to Applications, select the Ticketing Application, Shared Ticketing Settings in the left navigation, then Type Categories
- Click the +New button
- In the New Type Category popup, specify the Name, Description, and Order.
- The Active option is enabled by default. Type categories must be active for them to be assigned to ticket or project types
- Click Save

To transfer a group of Types from one category to another, click the Reassociate button at the top of the page. Select the category to move ticket types From, then the category to move the ticket types To. When you click Reassociate, all types in the category will be transferred.
