Scheduling Asset Discovery and Sync Jobs

This how-to article will help Assets/CIs administrators to schedule asset discovery jobs using the TDAdmin interface. The user must have Assets/CIs application admin access in TDNext or be a global administrator with access to TDAdmin.

Overview

Asset discovery jobs indicate what types of devices to discover and how often. These jobs can be configured to run at various intervals.

Scheduling Asset Discovery and Sync Jobs

To schedule asset discovery and sync jobs:

  1. Navigate to the discovery/sync jobs page:
    • For app admins: In TDNext, navigate to [Assets/CIs application] > gear icon in the top right corner > Admin > Asset Discovery > Discovery/Sync Jobs
    • For full TeamDynamix admins: In TDAdmin, navigate to Applications > [Assets/CIs application] > Asset Discovery > Discovery/Sync Jobs
  2. Click on the name of the job you would like to schedule. For more information on creating a new job, see the related article.
  3. Choose a Frequency: the interval on which the job will automatically run.
  4. Enter any additional configuration information for the frequency selected. For more information on intervals, see the Frequency Intervals section below.
  5. At the top of the page, click Save.

Frequency Intervals

The dropdown for frequency configuration allows you to ensure that the discovery or sync job is automatically executed with a routine interval.

The following intervals are supported:

  • Hourly – The job will be run multiple times daily, every certain number of hours (between 0-23) and minutes (between 0-59).
  • Daily – The job will be run no more than once daily at the specified time.
  • Every Weekday – The job will be run every day of the week, Monday through Friday, at the specified time.
  • Every Weekend Day – The job will be run every Saturday and Sunday at the specified time.
  • Weekly – The job will be run no more than once a week.
  • Monthly – The job will be run no more than once a month.

The following settings are available based on the frequency selected:

  • For Hourly:
    • Hour – the number of hours between each execution (can be set between 0-23).
    • Minute – the number of minutes between each execution (can be set between 0-59).
  • For Daily, Every Weekday, and Every Weekend Day:
    • Hour – the hour of the day that the job should run, in 24-hour time format (e.g., 8 for 8 AM or 20 for 8 PM).
    • Minute – the minute past the hour that the job should run.
  • For Weekly and Monthly:
    • Day – the day of the week (1 for Sunday through 7 for Saturday) or month (1-31) that the job should run. If the day selected is greater than the number of days in the week or month, the job will run on the last day of the week (Saturday) or the last day of the month.
    • Hour – the hour of the day that the job should run, in 24-hour time format (e.g., 8 for 8 AM or 20 for 8 PM).
    • Minute – the minute past the hour that the job should run.
