Security Roll Client/ License Question

Hello,

We recently considered involving non-technicians in some of our projects to handle specific tasks. After reviewing the feasibility, we decided that if we move forward with this approach, we would establish a new rule based on the Global Client Role for our key contributors. My question is, if I enable the "Update My Assigned Tasks Only" option, would it require an additional Technician license?

Thanks,

Chuck

Hello Chuck,

A client-licensed user can be granted that permission for "Update my assigned tasks only". I'm not sure if that is the answer you're looking for or not, but if you have more context on what you're hoping to get clarification on I could possibly give more details/certainty.

Sincerely,

Hi Mark,

My question was, Does enabling that Permission use a technician license since it’s dealing with completing tickets?

Thanks,
Chuck

No, that permission is actually not dealing with tickets at all. It is a permission related to Project Tasks, not ticket tasks. This is why it is able to be granted to someone using a security role that is backed by a client license. - Mark Sayers Mon 10/21/24 10:07 AM
Hi Mark,

Thank you for the answer; a follow-up question was asked since I reported it to my supervisor. I need to confirm that there is no additional cost to do this for our licensing when granting this rule

Nope, as long as you aren't actually bumping up their security role's *license* when you do this, granting that permission to a client-licensed security role does not carry a cost. - Mark Sayers Mon 10/21/24 11:30 AM
