Assets search filter

When I go to assets, I understand that is the only way to bulk update them, but if I have a list of let's say 50 that need a field bulk updated, it looks like in the filter under serial number I can only look up one at a time unless there is another option besides the comma separating them that I need. also, I have noticed if I do an import of an Excel sheet to try and bulk update, it creates a whole new record instead of merging it with the same serial number.

Hi James,

The search would only support searching a similar serial/name/tag/external ID. It wouldn't support searching a comma separated list.

As for the import, that should match against Service Tag and External ID. If that isn't happening, I would suggest submitting a support ticket with the import file attached so we can review it and see why the duplicate matching doesn't not seem to be happening.

Interesting enough i tried another import this morning and no duplicates were created. and for the search, is there ANY other way to do this? - James Richard Fri 10/18/24 8:14 AM
There is not a way to easily search a list of values, no. You can create a report with a bunch of filters for the Serial Number field though and string them together with the Advanced Filtering like so: 1 OR 2 OR 3 OR 4 etc.. - Mark Sayers Fri 10/18/24 9:43 AM
