Any alternate ways to Unsubmit time reports?

Sometimes a manager in our organization will reject a time report because it needs additional information filled in. When this happens, the user gets a notification it was rejected, but they can't do anything about it. An admin has to go into TD and unsubmit the report in order for the person to update their time and submit it again.

Is there any way around this so that when the manager rejects the time report, the person can go in and correct it right away?

Or is there any way to give the manager access to unsubmit time reports?

Is there any way to unsubmit time reports using iPaaS or another external tool or a workflow or anything?

We're just looking to increase the efficiency of this process. The "Unsubmit" is an extra step that holds up the process for us.

Thank you!

Hello Kay,

I don't believe there is any other method other than an admin going in to unsubmit the report to achieve this, but I'll check for you.

Actually marking a time entry as rejected *should* cause that entry and the timecard as a whole to remain unsubmitted (or revert to unsubmitted).

Has the user tried checking out their Time & Expenses or else My Work > My Timecard for the week of the time card in question to see if they could then adjust and resubmit their card?

It should also be noted that approving time entries isn't a requirement for time reporting. Is there a particular reason you're using the time entry feature that way to require everything be approved? - Mark Sayers Tue 10/15/24 12:56 PM
I'll test this out to see if I can resubmit my card after it's been rejected. Thanks Mark.

I think that they will want to keep the approval part because we also use it for reporting status of some things.

We tested this and the Resubmit button shows up for people when their report gets rejected. Thanks for your help with this! - Kay Brewer Tue 10/15/24 3:10 PM
