Locking down the date field in change records

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a way to ensure the implementation date for changes cannot be altered once the change has gone through the approval work flow. At a minimum I would like to lock it down, but best case would be to ensure it goes back to the last approval step if the date is changed.

Any thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated.
