PPM Stakeholder and Sponsor roles
Hello All,
We are just starting our use of Project Management and have a few questions about the roles, specifically what functionality that Stakeholders and Sponsors have.
When adding a Stakeholder to a Project, there is a checkbox list for
- Responsible
- Accountable
- Consulted
- Informed
Do any of these checkboxes lead back to reporting, or provide different permissions to the Project? Are they simply informative for the Project Manager?
I have the same question about permissions or functionality that Sponsors have. Is this role simply informative or for reporting? Or are there functionality that comes with this role?
Thank you for any suggestions on how you are (or are not) using these fields.

Hello Kristi,
A stakeholder or sponsor can view the project from the client portal assuming they themselves have enough permissions to view projects or if the projects section of the portal is marked as visible and this project is configured to at least be visible to signed in members of the organization.
Other than that, being sponsor or stakeholder doesn't add any special permissions though you *can* write reports filtering on whether someone is a sponsor or stakeholder of any projects. They are more informative roles. If you want those persons to actually be able to interact with the project or take actions on any tasks or Issues, they'll need to be named as resources of the project specifically.

We have a related question - Can Stakeholders or Sponsors be a Group, or a Department? Or just an Individual?
Thanks,
