I'm trying to remove a user from a specific group of emails which is in our "digital support" application under the "equipment distribution" group, but not physically remove them from the group

I'm not sure how you would achieve that if, within TeamDynamix, you are notifying the group they are a member of. You could, I suppose, disable their notify option on the group that they are in (in TDAdmin) so messages intended for the group do not trigger emails to this person.
