Modifying HTML output

Good day,

My employer has been using TeamDynamix for several years now, though my department is just getting into using it. Part of my current tasks are to take notification templates that were created by our parent department and modify them for our use. In at least one of these I have found a variable in html {{ModifiedDate}}. The output of this variable is extremely verbose and I would like to be able to adjust the format and number of values returned so that less space will be used on the form page. Even shortening to EST from "Eastern Standard Time" would be a big improvement.

Is this possible? If so, how?
