Listing tickets in an MS Teams Channel

Hello,

Our organization uses MS Teams for department meetings.  Each department has a channel in the team.

We'd like to create ticket and asset reports and include a link tab in each department's channel.  So each department would have a link to their open tickets and a tab for all their current assets.

The way we are doing this is by creating the reports, adding them to a desktop, then making the desktop public. That gives us the link to put into the channel tab on MS Teams.

The problem is that some tickets have sensitive information in the title.  Say, for example, the tickets are for the Human Resources department.  When some users enter the ticket title, they might specify social security numbers or other PII.

To avoid other people seeing information they shouldn't, we'd like to make the report only viewable to certain groups in TDX.   But it seems like if you make a desktop public those group permissions don't apply.

It sounds counter to making a public report, but is it possible to create a public desktop and have the report only viewable to certain groups or people?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

-Jim

Hello James,

Unfortunately it is not possible to both make a report restricted, and put it into a public desktop and keep it from becoming publicly accessible. You could instead place that link on some page that your org owns that is behind an authentication wall, then link those users to that location so they are signing in first before accessing the desktop link.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the quick reply. I didn't think it was possible, but thought it worthwhile to ask.
