Reassociate Owners for Knowledge Base

Hello everyone,

Just hoping to gain some better insight as to what the "Reassociate Owners" button does when moderating articles in our Knowledge Base via the admin portal. My understanding would be taking any articles created under "X" person, and change the ownership of their articles to another specified user/group.

I'm currently in the process of re-organizing and house keeping our Knowledge Base. I would like to change ownership of articles from a specific technician, to instead be owned by the whole staff team/group.

The term "Reassociate Owner" is not in the TDX knowledge base. I ran a test and found that the owners were not changed. (I was thinking that would be the case or else why wouldn't the button be labeled "Change Owner"?) I'm not sure what that button does or how to change ownership of many knowledge articles at one time. - Greg Van De Mark Wed 9/7/22 10:46 AM

Hello Timothy and Greg,

When you use the TDAdmin button "Reassociate Owner", it will change the ownership of *any* KB that currently credits one person as being the Owner over to being owned by a designee that you specify in the "To Owner" field of that modal window.

I tested this in my own environment and confirmed that it *does* work. Please let me know how you tested if you are not finding that your tests seem to be working.

Tested again. It worked. Not sure why it didn't work the first time. Good to know this functionality exists. - Greg Van De Mark Wed 9/7/22 2:08 PM

Related to this - is there a way to change the "Created by" field associated with a KB article?

No, the "created by" value for any item is not editable. - Mark Sayers Thu 9/26/24 11:38 AM
