Card Wall Permissions

HI,

My project team has suddenly lost the ability to make changes to the Cards on the Card wall. They were recently grated permissions. Please let me know what would cause them to lose their permissions?

Also please tell me how to fix this issue.

Hello Julie,

Can you give me the name of a member or two of your project team?

This issue doesn't affect your own account, right?

Also what is the name of the project they are trying to work on?

Sincerely,

Hi Mark,
Mark Wenneborg to start. My account is still good. Thanks Mark!

They are working on the "Move Sec Ops Away from Jira " in Project/Workspaces. There are 3 card walls for this project: Automation, Data Management and Workflow. - Julie Campbell Wed 6/1/22 11:57 AM
Mark's security role only seems to have the permission to "Update My Assigned Tasks Only". This is a restrictive permission that prevents a user from modifying a task they are not directly assigned to.

So, are we sure they cannot update at *least* the tasks assigned directly to them to move them to different card wall lanes? If yes, their security role may need to be updated to allow them the permission to Update Tasks, possibly also to Edit Tasks, but I'd start with the Update Tasks permission.

If you change a security role permission, the users need to sign out of TDX and sign back in before that change is applied to their account.

I will check and see if Mark can update any tasks assigned to him. Would his current permissions also prevent him adding new cards and subtasks? He had this ability and now when he opens the card wall, the plus(+) signs that were at the top of each card have now disappeared. - Julie Campbell Wed 6/1/22 2:57 PM
Yes, they do not allow for adding tasks right now or editing tasks. - Mark Sayers Wed 6/1/22 3:17 PM
Thanks Mark. This definitely helps me to understand what happened. It looks like their permissions were changed. - Julie Campbell Wed 6/1/22 3:38 PM
Mark, I have one more question, could you please tell me what access Glen Shere has for the same project and card wall? - Julie Campbell Wed 6/1/22 3:53 PM
The permissions I'm referring to are not at the project level. They are at TDAdmin > Users & Roles > Security Roles, then open the one that Glen has been associated with and see what project Tasks permissions that role has. - Mark Sayers Wed 6/1/22 4:17 PM
Oh I see. So the permissions in TDAdmin trump the permission at the project level? - Julie Campbell Wed 6/1/22 5:20 PM
Access to a project (via TDNext) do not equate to "permission to modify any and all content within the project or its plans". You still have to have the right security role permissions (which only an org administrator can modify) to be allowed to edit plans and tasks and update tasks unless the organization *wants* users to be locked down to only being able to update tasks they are assigned to.

There's no "trumping" going on because being added to a project doesn't *give* you anything as far as permissions other than access to the project to view its details and its plans.

Hi Mark,
Thanks so much for all of your with helping to understand how permissions work in TDX. I will work with my team to get these issues resolved.
