Remove resource approval requirement for CIO
Hi - I am trying to remove the project resource approval requirement for our CIO, but can't find the setting to remove that. We don't want him to have to approve every time we add a project resource who reports to him. I don't see anything in Resource Pools that needs to be changed. The CIO is not part of any resource pools. Is there another place I should be looking?
Thank you,
Gretchen

Hello Gretchen,
If the CIO is listed as the *manager* of a resource pool, and if that resource pool is marked as needing manager approval for resource requests, that resource pool's setting would need to be changed so it doesn't require approval.
For what it is worth, the majority of your Resource Pools seem to be requiring approval currently.

Hi Mark,
The CIO (Randall Saba) is not listed as a manager in Resource Pools at all. Not that I can see anyway. The way the other approval requests are set up is fine. It's just the CIO I can't figure out. Is there another place I should look? - Gretchen Cannon Tue 4/5/22 11:25 AM

What sorts of approvals is he receiving that he believes he must take action on? I'd be curious to see an actual example email that he is being asked to take action on to know what the request is, because it would not be a Resource Pool approval if he's not a manager on any of the pools.

I sent a screenshot of the approval request that would be sent to him if I try to add a direct report to my project

I believe that page is only stating that A) this resource is a member of a Resource Pool and that pool requires resource approval, and B) separately, it is just stating that this resource reports to Randall Saba. It doesn't mean that Randall must approve the addition of this resource to the project.
The resource's Resource Pool Manager (which in this case is the actual resource himself) is the one who would have to make this approval, via the Resource Management application in TDNext if you've given him access to that application. - Mark Sayers Tue 4/5/22 11:45 AM

Thank you. After I saved the resource request, it showed it in Pending status with Michael as the approver (not Randall).
