Question
- How do I create a public dashboard to share information with end users?
Environment
- Enterprise global licence with access to Analysis (required to create the public dashboard)
- Technician or greater access to applications being reported on (ex, ticketing, assets, projects, or analysis applications)
- Work Management (TDNext) (required to create reports for the dashboard)
Answer
Visibility Notes
- Only dashboard widgets that show a globe icon in the dashboard editor can be seen on public dashboards in a Client Portal, irrespective of user permissions.
- Public dashboards are accessible to anyone with the link, unless the "Only allow authenticated users to view the Client Portal" box is checked on your Client Portal settings page. If that box is checked, login is required to access the link. There is no further visibility restriction for public dashboards.
- In Work Management (TDNext), create the reports to be placed on the public dashboard
- In Work Management, as a user with access to Analysis, create a dashboard with the desired reports
- Click Dashboard Settings (gear icon) and check the Public box
- If needed, set an expiration date for the public access in the Public Until field. Leave it blank for no expiration date
- Copy the Public URL link for the applicable Client Portal
- Click the Save button in the popup
- Then click the Save button at the top of the Dashboard editor
Public dashboards can be placed on the Client Portal, and the header and footer of the report can be hidden (see related articles).
