Overview
TeamDynamix offers two options for hosting data. Both options use the same shared web hosting tier but differ in how the data is separated in the database tier.
- Multi-Tenant - A shared database that contains multiple customers within it. Multiple multi-tenant databases may share the same underlying hardware.
- Private Cloud - An additional cost option that hosts a separate, single customer database on a single customer server. This adds an additional layer of data separation from the multi-tenant SaaS database.
Private Cloud Benefits
Database Backup Access and External Reporting
A feature of Private Cloud is the ability to download database backups to be used locally for reporting with external reporting tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau). TeamDynamix can give access to an Azure storage account which customers can connect to and download the database export. The file can be downloaded and restored to a Microsoft SQL Server running on the customer's infrastructure.
- Exports are created nightly
- Exports can only be restored to a Microsoft SQL server
- Customers can chose either .bak or .bacpac for the export file format
- .bak files require SQL Server 2022 or higher
- .bacpac files require SQL Server 2016 or higher
Direct Database Access
Private Cloud customers can also request direct access to their Sandbox and Production databases. Once requested, a customer will be provided with a single read-only account to be shared by the organization. They can then access the system over an encrypted connection between the client network and TeamDynamix. This benefits from regular automatic updates and enhancements in Azure made by Microsoft as well as being further secured by an IP allow list and strong password which is rotated annually. Customers who utilize TeamDynamix iPaaS can also connect to the database using iPaaS flows through a separate read-only account.
More information about the features and limitations of connecting to a private cloud database can be found in the Accessing Your TeamDynamix Private Cloud Database article.
Sandbox Refreshes
Private Cloud also features the ability to schedule up to four on-demand production to sandbox refreshes per year and do not have to adhere to the multi-tenant refresh schedule.
Custom Report Sources
Private Cloud also features the ability to incorporate custom database queries into TeamDynamix as TDNext Report Sources.
Migrating from Multi-Tenant to Private Cloud
Customers currently hosted through our Multi-Tenant offering have the option to purchase the Private Cloud offering and migrate their environment to Private Cloud. If you are interested in migrating, please reach out to your assigned Customer Success Manager. Your Customer Success Manager will work with you and our Technical Services team to schedule the migration.
Overview of the Migration Process
- Your Customer Success Manager will work closely with you and our Technical Services team to schedule the migration.
- The migration process is entirely handled by TeamDynamix without the need for prep work by you.
- Typically, after a migration is requested, the entire process takes 3-4 weeks to complete.
- First, we migrate your sandbox environment to Private Cloud and allow you to test the migration. After the sandbox is successfully tested, we schedule and will migrate your production environment.
- Typically, you will have 1-business day of downtime for the production environment migration to occur. TeamDynamix will work closely with you when scheduling the migration to insure there is little impact to your operations.
