Asset Discovery Job not finding agents

Issue

Asset Discovery not finding computers with agent installed.

After running discovery job, no assets are found.

Computer with agent installed not reporting in to Asset Discovery service.

Resolution

  • Confirm that the Discovery Job is active in TDAdmin
  • Confirm that one of the Data Providers of the Discovery Job is set to Agent
  • Confirm that the Agent service on the affected machine(s) is enabled/running
    • Open the Start Menu and type Services to open the Service list
    • Look for TeamDynamix Asset Discovery Agent
    • If the Status is not Running, right-click the entry and click Start
  • Ensure that the IP(s) of the affected machine(s) are included in the IP ranges specified on the Discovery Job
  • Restart the Agent service on the affected device(s) to force the Agent to check-in.
    • Open the Start Menu and type Services to open the Service list
    • Look for TeamDynamix Asset Discovery Agent
    • Right-click the entry and click Restart

In some cases, simply waiting for the assets to check in "resolves" the issue. By default, the Agent will check in every 10,080 minutes (i.e., once a week). This setting can be adjusted by changing the UploadInterval setting in the Agent's configuration logs.
