Client Asset Details Visibility

This article will help Client Users and Administrators in understanding where to find Client Asset Details in the Client Portal, and how visibility of attributes on the form are configured. The user must have TDAdmin access in order to modify visibility settings for custom attributes that appear on the Client Asset Details page.

Overview

A dedicated Client Asset Details page allows client users to look up information on assets that they are able to access. This page mirrors the existing Asset Details page in TDNext, and is configurable in TDAdmin so that custom attributes can be selectively displayed on the page.

Where to Find This

The Client Asset Details page can be accessed in a variety of ways from the Client Portal. A client user can view the Client Asset Details page from a hyperlink if they have either:

  1. Access to the application that the asset resides in
  2. Ownership of the asset

A client user can find the Client Asset Details page from any of the following:

  1. Tickets that contain assets.
  2. Knowledge Base Articles with associated assets. Assets here are hyperlinked if the user is able to see the article, has TDNext access, and either owns the asset or has access to the application that the asset resides in. If the user does not have TDNext Access, assets are listed but not hyperlinked.
  3. The My Profile page which contains the user's own assets.

Modifying Visibility for Custom Asset Attributes

Custom Asset Attributes can be configured to display on the Client Asset Details page. By default, custom attributes will not display on the page, so you must select the ones you would like to display to client users.

To modify visibility for custom asset attributes:

  1. In TDAdmin, select Applications in the left navigation.
  2. Select the Asset Application with the attributes you want to edit.
  3. Select Asset Attributes in the left Navigation.
  4. Select the Attribute you want to edit.
  5. Scroll down to the Options section, and check/uncheck the Client Visible checkbox.
  6. Click the Save button.
