This how-to article will help users to understand how to back up a project’s Briefcase using the Project application admin interface. The user must be a global admin or app-level admin for the specific Project application.
Overview
Backing up files protects them from human error, preserves them for archival purposes, or prepares them in case of a system crash.
Administrators who have the Backup Briefcase Files permission may back up any project's Briefcase to a .zip file and download that file to their computer.
Backing Up a Project Briefcase
To back up a project Briefcase:
- Open the Project app admin interface:
- Project Application Admins: In Work Management, click View Applications, select the Project application, click the gear icon in the top-right corner, then select Admin from the menu
- Global Admins: In TDAdmin, go to Applications, then select the Project application
- Click Projects in the left navigation.
- Click the name of the desired project in the project list.
- In the Project Detail window, click the Briefcase Backup button.
- In the Project Briefcase Backup Utility window, follow the steps to Prepare, Zip, and Download the files.
- In the Save As window, give the file a meaningful name and save it to the desired location on your computer.
Gotchas & Pitfalls
- Remember, this process can be lengthy based on how many files are in a project’s Briefcase. Keep the page open while the system processes the backup request and prepares files for zipping and downloading.
