TeamDynamix lets you manage your team's capacity for projects using Role Forecasts, which track how much time each role needs for a project. Sometimes, a project has a constraint requiring a specific person to fill one of the roles. In this case, you can plan the project request with a Named Resource Forecast.
Assigning a Named Resource
When you add a Role Forecast to a project request (either as a requestor in the Client Portal or as an evaluator in Work Management), you can use the Named Resource field to choose a specific person. You can also add or remove a person using the lookup button on a saved role forecast.
In order to assign a named resource to a project request forecast, you must have the Add Named Resources to Role Forecasts permission on the app-level security role for the specific Project application.
Using Named Resource Forecasts to Plan Project Requests
Once a project request has been created with a Named Resource Forecast and has moved through the workflow to be available in reporting, you can see the Named Resource in the Windows Budget and Capacity Planner.
Staffing a Project
When you staff a project from a project request that was planned with a Named Resource Forecast, the named resource will be defaulted into the role that they are assigned to. However, you can change the selected resource at this stage. When you finish staffing the project, the same resource requests will be sent as if the named resource had been assigned to an unnamed Role Forecast.
