Troubleshooting Briefcase Integration Issues

This how-to article will help users and admins to troubleshoot issues with the Briefcase integration in TDNext. The user must have the Admin access in TDAdmin and TDNext access.

Overview

This article will cover several common issues experienced by clients using Briefcase integration with external file sharing systems.

Currently Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, and OneDrive for Business file systems are supported for integration with the TeamDynamix Briefcase.

Enabling Briefcase Integration

To enable Briefcase integration:

  1. In TDAdmin, click Organization Settings > Briefcase/Attachment Integration.
  2. On the page, mark all checkboxes that corresponds with the integrations that should be active.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Once integrations are selected, enter a request with TeamDynamix to activate the appropriate integrations.

Note: customers with TeamDynamix installed on-premise must create their own integration instance before enabling it. This can be performed by a system administrator on TDAdmin > Organization Settings > Briefcase/Attachment Integration page.

System administrators can click the help ? icon that appears next to each checkbox for instructions on how to setup that specific type of Briefcase integration.

Gotchas & Pitfalls

External File Action Not Visible after Enabling

After enabling an integration system, the menu action may not be immediately available. This setting is cached and may take up to 15-20 minutes to take effect.

Upon waiting the designated amount of time, log out and log back in for the file menu action to appear in the Briefcase. If you are still having issues, please submit a bug ticket here.

External File Action Displays an Error Message When Clicked

This error appears when integration has been enabled, and your organization's URL has not been added to the list of valid domains. Installed (on-premise) clients should contact their system administrator to make this change. SaaS (hosted) users should submit a service request and TeamDynamix will ensure that your organization's URL is added to the list of valid domains.

Release Preview Integrations Aren't Working

Currently briefcase file attachment integrations are not designed to work within the Release Preview environment. They will work in the Production and Sandbox environments only.

Selecting the Correct Link Types

When selecting the Link Type options Organizational Default, Visible to Anyone, or Editable by Anyone you may find that the file integration between the Briefcase and your online file share may not complete, and silently fail. This is because:

  • Everyone indicates everyone in your organization, but nobody outside the organization.
  • Anyone indicates truly anyone, whether inside or outside of your organization. This would also include anonymous users, which is often disabled on the file share side due to the organization's security policies.

Either setting would also apply to the Organization Default since security policies are typically assigned at the organizational level.

In these situations, the selections Visible to Everyone or Editable by Everyone should prevent the process from failing and allow for successful integration between the TeamDynamix Briefcase and your online file sharing system.
