Changing from Standard to Agile project mode

I changed the project mode on 2 projects from Standard to Agile and noticed that the following setting in the General section changed and become not editable - even as Admin.

In addition, these projects started out as project requests and went through our portfolio management process where Role Forecasts were created with scheduled hours which was then transitioned to project Resources with scheduled hours during the Staff step in converting a request to a project.

When I changed the mode to Agile, the scheduled hours for the resources were wiped out under Project/Manage/Resources - although they remain in the Role Forecasts.

Is this the intended behavior? If yes, why is there no warning of this to be found? Can there be one? Does this have to work this way?  And finally, how do I get the scheduled hours back into Project/Manage/Resources?

Thanks,

Billie

Billie,

According to the help text for the "Resource Management" field of a project's General section, the Manage by Plan setting (which it defaults to for an Agile project) will cause resource allocation to come from task assignments. The Manage by Project option allocates resources at the project level no matter whether they are assigned to specific tasks on a plan or plans.

By switching to Agile and therefore managing by plan, there is no longer a need from the system's perspective for project level allocations to remain.

There perhaps could be better warning for this, but I'm afraid it seems like this behavior is what is expected.

Hi Billie,

This is the expected behavior when changing from a Standard to an Agile project as far as the Resource Management and Resource Schedule Editing items becoming greyed out. I will check into the other items for you though as I do not know that is supposed to happen.

When I hear back from that I will let you know the results.

Sincerely,
