Outbound Email Notifications Not Prepending Technician Name

I believe I asked this a couple of years ago, but can't find the reply, and need to ask it again.

When setting up Outbound Email Settings, the "Display Name" field states, "When blank, the system normally marks the display name as the name of the user who initiated the notification."

However, when we set up a custom SMTP server, the notifications work correctly, but the name is not being prepended as expected.

Does this feature work as expected? If so, what needs to be done to add the name to the email notification address?

Thanks, Tevis

Hello Tevis,

If you aren't supplying a From Name or a Display Name specifically, it should show the display name (from TDX) of the person who initiated the notification. What value are you seeing it use as the Display Name on your notifications?

Sincerely,

We are leaving the Display Name field empty, which according to the documentation should prepend the from the person initiating the notification. But this is not happening, for example when running test this is what was displayed:

"UO Service Portal Email Reply <serviceportal@uoregon.edu>"

No name displayed.

Are you supplying a value for the From Address when you test this, or are you leaving that blank too? What environment (prod or sandbox) are you testing this in? - Mark Sayers Tue 11/26/24 4:38 PM
The Display Name is left blank (empty), and I am testing this from the production environment (the email replies/notifications are disabled in the sandbox.) - Tevis Boulware Tue 11/26/24 6:08 PM
I am supplying the "From Address" to match the authentication method address. Should the "from" address also be left blank? - Tevis Boulware Tue 11/26/24 6:14 PM
