Asset relationships in import?
Is there a way to establish asset relationships to other assets via the asset import process?

Hi Rebecca,
The import only allows you to specify the Parent asset of a given row/asset. It doesn't allow for defining multiple other relationships to other CIs/Assets unfortunately.

Thanks Mark, but I’m not sure I understand. We are looking to do an import of assets, some of which have parents. Our plan was to first import the parent assets, then do a second import for the children where the existing asset parent would be included in the import.
Are you saying that can’t be done, and that the parent could only be selected if they already exist and were manually affiliated in TDNext?
Thanks!

Ah you can definitely do that, yes. I was talking about the "Relationships" tab on assets and speaking to the point of defining (potentially) multiple relationships between one asset and one-to-many *other* assets, which isn't possible.
You can surely import parent assets, then import children assets and set the parent assets as the Parent value of the child assets. - Mark Sayers Fri 8/16/24 12:22 PM
