9.4 Preview Environment - Time Tracking on Project Requests

Preview Environment - I am trying to figure out who/how one is able to add time to a request? Does one have to be added as a Resource before the request is submitted? Once the request is submitted, there is no longer access to add a resource, so I am not sure if this is where the resource to add time is initiated? I added a resource and tested to try to add time, but the request is not appearing as Project/Workspace on both a submitted/non-submitted request. The release notes are not clear as to who would have access to add time. I am able to see with Admin access, but cannot get any other resource to add.

Hi Cindy,

As long as a person is a resource on a project request, they should be able to add time against it as long as there is a time type for you to add it against. If the Resources section is not showing on your request, you might need to make sure in Admin that the Project Request section for Resources is activated.

Also, time for Project Requests must be entered via the Time & Expenses application from TDNext.

I hope this helps to clarify how one can add time against a project request in 9.4. If you have any further questions please let me know.

Sincerely,

Hi Mark,

Thank you, this led me down the right path. One missing piece was knowing how to add Time Types to a project request. I found that answer here: https://solutions.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/Forums/Questions/Details?ID=106937

To clarify the process of how to enable people to track time on project requests:

  1. In Portfolio Planning, open the project requests.
  2. In the LH column, scroll down to the new "Resources" section (don't confuse this with Role Forecasts, this is where I got hung up)
  3. Add myself as a Resource and save.

Once I did that, I was able to see the project in "My Time Card".

FYI, until you add Time Types (see the link above), Time Type will be blank, and you won't be able to add time completely.

So it's a combination process: first enable "Time Types" and "Resources" on all project requests (see the link above), then you can use the "Resources" section to track time.

Having a KB article about this would be good.
