Cannot staff a project with a client?

I have created a functional role for a group of clients so that I can staff a project during the conversion from Request to Project. When I staff the project and search people in that functional role, no one shows up to select. Why?

Hi Barrie,

We actually have a Knowledge Base article that explains why Client Portal-only users cannot be selected to staff a request being converted to a project. You can view that article about the requirements to add a resource to a project by clicking here. Check out the second section labeled "When converting a project request to a project".

If the article provided does not fully satisfy your inquiries, please let me know and I will do whatever possible to help.

Sincerely,

Barrie,

The main reason for restricting Clients from being staffed on a project is you will be selecting a Project Manager while the staffing is occurring, and we wanted to make sure the Project Manager will have the proper access to TDNext that they need. A Client can't access TDNext, and thus would be disqualified from becoming a Project Manager. Clients can be added after the request has been staffed and converted to a project.

I hope this has helped answer the question you sent us. To respond to this post or ask additional questions on this thread, please use the "Contribute an answer" button.
