Entering time at the project level

Would you please tell me how I can enter time at the project level versus at the task level?

It appears that I can enter time at the project level after the project close but not during execution.

Would it be possible to have the project that I am actively working on showing up first?  Sort of Favorite list.

Thanks.

Hello Helen,

This is possible by the Project Manager accessing the project's Settings section, scroll down to where the Options are listed, and check the box for "Allow project-level time entry".

This address how to set up the option but does not address how to actually input the time. Can you clarify how to enter project level time? At the task level, for example, there is an "add time" option for work you are assigned. - Ryan Williams-Cudo Thu 4/8/21 1:20 PM
Hello Ryan, project-level time can be added from the Time & Expenses application in TDNext. - Mark Sayers Thu 4/8/21 3:12 PM
I think that the issue was that we are unable to add time at the project level if the check box "Allow project-level time entry" was not checked at the time that the project was created. If the check box was checked after, then it would not allow it. - Helen Kwan Thu 4/8/21 3:17 PM

I still don't think that answers the question. I believe i have found the answer and it involves two steps. first, you have to enable to option to enter project level time by navigating:

  1. Go to Projects/workspace>>Settings>>Options>>Check “Allow Project-level time entry

Then, you have to:

  1. Go to My Work>>”+ Add Time”>>Select Project Workspace from drop down>>Select Time Type from drop down>>Enter time on Day>>Input Time Description>>Select Save

Is the above correct?

The answer you provided indicating to go to the Time and Expenses application in TDX only gives the user the option to add estimated time and budget, but not actual project level time.

You *can* add time through the My Work application sure, you can also add project level time (actual hours) via Time & Expense exactly as I mentioned. TDNext > Time & Expenses > + Add Time > Project/Workspace > Select a project and a time type, then input your desired value for the time entry on the desired day of the week. Add optional description. Time & Expenses does *not* allow input of estimated time. - Mark Sayers Thu 4/8/21 3:24 PM
Even after I check the box to "Allow Project-level time entry" for an existing project, going into TDNext > Time & Expenses > + Add Time > Project/Workspace > Select a project, the Task field would still have an asterisk indicating that the Task field is required which means that project level time entry is not allowed. I am now getting around that problem by checking the "Allow Project-level time entry" at the time the project is created. - Helen Kwan Thu 4/8/21 4:14 PM
