Client Portal going to Default

Hello.  I am testing out the new Client Portal application and I am not having any problems configuring the portal and when I enter the portal without signing in, the default "Home" customized home page appears.  However, when I sign in from the public page, the portal reverts back to the "default" page.  Please see the the attached.

I suspect that there is a setting I am missing, but I can't seem to find it.

As a side note, what is the recommended practices to expose the separate client portal links to the public?

Thanks, Tevis

Hello Tevis,

I think you'll need to do one or both of the following:

  1. Remove your Client Portal desktop for that portal from your account, and/or
  2. and this may be the actual culprit, go to Admin for that client portal where you configured the default page, bring that page's configuration window up, and set the "Allow Edit" option to "Do not allow users to customize this page when this is the default."

Hi Mark. Maybe I don't understand what you mean by "Remove Client Portal" desktop, but if you review the "clientPortal" screen captures, then you will see:

1. There no other desktops defined
2. The "do not allow edits" was already checked
3. The custom "Home" desktop is the default
4. Only custom pages are in the "Home" desktop.

From what I can tell, the new BAO Client portal is configured just like the default Client portal the and two desktops are configured the same. Well obviously not the same, since the new one isn't working as expected, so I am sure I am missing a configuration item somewhere.

P.S. There is no hurry on this, I am just checking out the new capabilities and there are no current use cases that are driving a "fast" answer. - Tevis Boulware Fri 11/8/19 5:04 PM
Just in case it matters, I am in the Sandbox environment. - Tevis Boulware Fri 11/8/19 5:10 PM
Hello Tevis, I meant you'd have to go to Admin > Users & Roles > Users, open your test account up, go to Desktops, and remove the one you currently have there for that Client Portal. Or all of them if you have more than one client portal desktop in that app. - Mark Sayers Mon 11/11/19 9:14 AM
Thanks and lesson here is to ensure that the "Do not allow users to customize this page when this is the default." is checked when the Pages are first created, since once a desktop is modified, it will "stick" with the user until deleted. - Tevis Boulware Mon 11/11/19 11:12 AM
